Call Me Betty comes into this handicap debut today after winning a maiden last month on AW. Prior, she was a decent second on good and has a fair opening mark. She could be in the money again.

Gennadius is a 3-year-old colt trained by Richard Hannon and is 0-6 but has finished runner-up on four occasions, beaten a short head at Bath and a neck at Lingfield on his penultimate start. He finished 2/14 at Windsor last time out and finished 2.75 lengths ahead of the third. The jockey report and Racing Post comments state: 'led, hung left and was headed over 1f out, kept on final 110 yards, no match for winner (jockey said colt hung left-handed throughout).' Windsor is a right-handed galloping track, whereas today's course, Catterick, over today's trip is a left-handed 1m1f oval, undulating and very sharp with handiness essential. Speedy types who race handily are at a definite advantage, amand Gennadius has led at some point in 3/6 races. Joe Leavy rides, and he has won on 12 of his last 54 rides for Richard Hannon if sent off in the top three in the market in handicaps on colts/geldings. Two from the last three runners meeting this criteria have won: Raedwald and Meblesh.

Sherlock is in stall number 1, trained by Kevin Ryan and ridden by Tom Eaves. Still a maiden after 10 starts but has placed three times at this 7f trip, which looks more suitable than the mile tried last time when he faded late on at Carlisle. Now fitted with first-time blinkers, which could sharpen him up. His handicap mark of 63 looks slightly high based on exposed form but is doable. The ground is fine, and the inside draw is ideal if he breaks well. Needs to improve but could sneak into the frame if blinkers work. Each way chance if the pace is strong.

Lunar Force hasn't shown explosive form lately, but today’s field could suit his grinding running style. He drops slightly in grade compared to some past starts and will appreciate the stiff finish at Catterick. Tim Easterby's charge is not a quick turn-of-foot type, but if the pace collapses late, he could be the one to stay on past tiring rivals.
