Coffeys Forge won a point a year ago at the 7th attempt after being placed in his previous three points. He joined Gordon Elliott in January and ran reasonably well in three handicap hurdles. Switching to fences for this beginners' chase should give him a chance of his first win under rules.

Not a strong race, and perhaps John O'Connell can get the best from Darkened, who he now trains as well as owns. The selection has some decent form in the book from his time with Noel Kelly, but there is just a suspicion he may be capable of better even at 9 years of age.
