Who Are NetBet?

NetBet launched at the turn of the century, and remains an independent bookmaker in the UK. It has grown to become one of the best bookmakers in the country and ranks in our Top 10s for a number of different categories.

First Impression of NetBet

By Luke Bradshaw Lee - This review will reflect the service offered at the time of writing. I signed up on the desktop version of NetBet, but also used the mobile version to compare, as well as downloading the NetBet app. 

NetBet feels very straight down the middle. It’s exactly as you’d expect and like your bookie to be. There’s no fancy bells or whistles, everything is where you expect it to be and a quick glance down the different menus displays a good selection of sports, plus promotions, free to play games and seasonal or calendar-led events.

NetBet Live Betting

The live betting at NetBet is one of the best around. Head to their In-Play section and you’ll see all their live markets, as well as upcoming and featured markets. At the time of review there is some football, tennis, cricket and table tennis, but the upcoming markets show a far broader selection, with snooker, darts, esports, ice hockey and volleyball all on their way.

Overall, NetBet is one the best bookies for live betting and makes our list of best bookmakers for in-play betting – it’s still an excellent part of the NetBet product.

NetBet Live Streaming

Users can live stream on NetBet through the website or NetBet TV. This includes a number of different sports, from football, basketball, tennis, volleyball, handball and hockey. The only requirement is that members must have at least £1 in their account at the time, or need to have placed a bet of at least £1 in the last 48 hours.

NetBet Betting Odds

NetBet’s odds are great. Take a look across major events, competitions and sports and their odds are as competitive as most. I can’t find any that are market-leading apart from the odd thing here or there, but they’re always in the top five or so with the same odds as the big hitters in the industry. They’re very competitive, and a must for line shoppers out there.

NetBet Betting App or Mobile Site 

NetBet’s app is really good. The promotions, odds boosts and the like run across the top of the home page, and everything is accessible from the hamburger menu at the top-left, or the menu at the bottom. It’s incredibly easy to navigate and move from one section to the next, as well as going back to where you’ve come from. When you make your bet selections, the slip loads seamlessly. One criticism, however, is the repetition of the menu along the bottom of the screen. There are a few options – Sports, In-Play and Bet Slip – that are all then repeated again. It feels like a chunk of the screen being taken up that doesn’t need to be.

NetBet Football Betting

NetBet offers a very broad range of football markets, with odds that sit right up there with some of the best going. There’s obviously the major leagues and competitions, but punters can also find domestic leagues as broad and varied as Algeria, Peru, Northern Ireland and Syria. There are also plenty of promotions running that are football-specific, as well as early pay out.

Another nice touch is the “Bet Assist” feature. This little button, on loads of markets, immediately presents stats based on that market that can help inform your bet. It’s really easy to select and deselect, so a perfect example of giving users options, without it being forced on them

Bet Builder 

There’s an absolute load of markets within their bet builder feature. There’s a decent enough selection of markets within this, although I like to see a few more (there are no player fouls committed, or player tackles), but to be honest, these might be added closer to the time.

Bonuses

As well as the welcome offer there are a few different promotions to take advantage of. At the time of writing there are a good amount of different offers: free bets, free to play games, the chance to win daily prizes and an acca boost. These are all general football promotions, but it’s great to see them incorporated into current competitions.

Cash Out

Cashout is a very important betting feature for punters these days so it's crucial that bookies integrate this feature into their mobile betting apps. NetBet have done this well, allowing their customers to instantly cash out their bets on any device they like.

NetBet Horse Racing

The horse racing section at NetBet is very good, although there is no live streaming. There’s the usual selection of Winner, Each Way, Forecast and Tricast, all at impressive odds. There are extra places on selected races and you can use NetBet’s acca bonus when making your selections. 

There are some nice promotions, too. A free bet if your horse finishes second to the favourite, as well as if it’s beaten by a length. NetBet also have BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed). This is on all UK racing (but not greyhounds), with multiples included, and from 9:00am each day. There is also no cap on the maximum benefit which is fantastic.

A full range of American Sports is available, so let’s see how they stack up.

American Football Betting

UK bookmakers sometimes Anglicise American sports in an attempt to make them more attractive to UK users,something that I think rarely works. One example is just posting the moneyline odds for games on the main page. NetBet doesn’t do this, which is great to see. You see exactly what you want: moneyline, spread (although this is called Handicap Points on NetBet) and total points markets for each game, and then more if you want to click through. Basketball Betting

Just pipped to second spot, Netbet’s basketball offering is exceptional. For NBA betting sites, only Unibet can best this impressive service. Netbet can match Unibet for markets and bet builders, while its statistics and graphics propel it ahead of most. The only real difference is that NetBet can’t quite compete when it comes to odds. That said, there will be plenty who prefer its interface – just depends what you’re after. Also, when you bet £25 or more you get a free £5 bet. Keep tabs on the top basketball betting sites though, to see if they make it top on our list.

Baseball Betting

This is very good, and continues NetBet’s excellent US sports coverage. Each game has a load of supporting pre-game stats, including probabilities for particular markets. There are plenty of markets per game, the Bet Assist feature is available for a selected few markets and the event coverage is really good, with leagues beyond just the MLB, including China and Mexico.

Ice Hockey Betting

The NHL takes up the bulk of space here, as expected. But there are also some fixtures included from around the globe, particularly European leagues. I selected an upcoming NHL game and there are loads of markets listed, including plenty of player props, as well as a decent number of outrights and futures, whether that be for Stanley Cup winners, or player awards. For the smaller leagues that reduces a bit more, which is understandable. 

NetBet Greyhound Betting

As mentioned, there is live streaming for greyhound racing on NetBet but, unfortunately, no Best Odds Guaranteed, despite having it for horse racing. They have a full offering of UK and Irish races, and of the seven different meets I saw, all of them featured live streaming (all clearly visible with a green play icon on each). You can sort through quick picks, build a racecard or go through their ante post markets.

NetBet Darts Betting

While their odds can’t quite compete with the darts betting sites in our top 10, they have a tonne of markets to bet on meaning that you’ll find bet opportunities here that you won’t at others. Also, it's not darts specific, but NetBet runs plenty of offers and you can take advantage of these across darts betting. 

NetBet Snooker Betting

By Steve Madgwick - As with the best snooker betting sites, there are markets for a few different tournaments, including the World Championships, the Masters and World Grand Prix. On top of that, the odds look quite competitive, and that goes for outrights on next year’s World Championships, as well as upcoming matches in some smaller tournaments. Although the odds are generally good across the board, there is definitely a lack of markets. For one selected match NetBet has result, handicap, correct score and total frame markets. There isn’t anything for race to (frames) or any more novelty bets like odd/even total frames etc. which means that there are a fair few other sites who can offer more.

NetBet Rugby Betting (Union & League)

But there’s no French D2 or Japanese domestic competition. There is also a pretty standard selection in markets, with I’d say about average – it’s all fine, but not incredible. NetBet Cricket Betting

By James Banting - It’s difficult to fault the cricket output here, with plenty of events covered, impressive odds and a really nice selection of stats both pre-match and for in-play events. This is probably somewhere I will return to for my cricket betting, and that’s down to the amount of markets that are listed per game, because there are definitely some missing at other places that I can find here.

NetBet Tennis Betting

By James Banting - Overall, I think the tennis betting at NetBet is nice. The odds are good, especially the in-play ones, and there are some tennis-specific offers on current and upcoming competitions. If they could add in more markets, they’d definitely be closer to getting into the top 10 tennis betting sites on OLBG.

NetBet Golf Betting

By James Banting - In terms of current events, this does look very good, with lesser competitions – such as the Challenge de Cadiz – listed among odds for the majors, Ryder and Solheim Cups. In fact, I’d be surprised if you can find more competitions listed anywhere else, as they seem to have as many covered as possible, whether that be small events soon, or bigger events much later in the year. On top of that, you can select specific holes, see their layout, and how the current players on that hole are going round. Generally, it’s all pretty excellent, and I’ll be coming back.

NetBet Motorsports Betting

By Andy Powell -  There’s a really good number of markets per Grand Prix for Formula 1, definitely more than most, and that’s separate from the outright markets for the World Championship, meaning that motor Sports bettors should be happy with the offering at NetBet. Beyond that you’ll find Motorbikes, Speedway and Nascar with more basic offerings, but enough to keep you interested. 

NetBet Boxing Betting

Those this weekend and over the next few weeks have a decent offering, whereas the further away they get the less markets on offer. All events have the number of markets listed below, and range from two to 10. Overall, what NetBet is doing looks pretty good, even if there is some room for improvement.

Whilst these sports might sound very niche, there is still a large enough market for fans, and millions of them in the UK, so good coverage of niche sports and events is key to be reviewed on OLBG; let’s dig in a bit further.

Handball Betting

You can live stream selected matches at NetBet. There’s a good selection of events and competitions, with nearly as many women’s tournaments as men’s, with the Women's World Championships, European League, Women’s Bundesliga, and more. That’s on top of me’s leagues in Greece, Argentina, Sweden and more. Handball is increasingly popular and NetBet looks to be struggling in terms of providing a platform for punters to bet on various handball events and tournaments worldwide. 

Cycling Betting

NetBet offers betting on cycling for sports bettors who like to dabble in cycling betting, and comparing it with others out there it’s what we’d expect. There isn’t a load of markets, but that’s true of anywhere to be honest, but there’s more here than most. As well as the Grand Tours, there’s three smaller races covered, also.

Aussie Rules Football Betting

As far as NetBet is concerned, their event coverage is pretty standard – they have most parts covered. Their markets and odds are good, but not as great as others, but overall they are still a solid option.

Political Betting

By Nigel Skinner - This isn’t great. There are a few select markets for US politics, but absolutely nothing for UK politics, or anywhere else around the globe. Perhaps it’s fair enough not to have global stuff, even though some do, but not to have any UK political markets is really disappointing.

Entertainment and Specials Betting

There’s no film or TV award ceremonies, no TV reality shows, no current events, or specials based on the zeitgeist. If you’re a fan of betting on TV, Specials and Entertainment, then you’ll need to look elsewhere.

Esports Betting

There is decent betting available for esports markets, with markets  available on games such as DOTA 2, Counter-Strike, League of Legends and FIFA as well as many others. Esports betting is of course not as traditional as normal betting markets but it's popularity is increasing as gaming grows in size year-by-year. Virtual Sports

NetBet has an excellent virtual sports section. Housed in the site’s main menu, alongside Sports, In Play and Casino, you can get straight to their virtual sports offering. There is football, racing, greyhounds, basketball, ice hockey, speedway, tennis, trotting and cycling. In short, there’s an absolute ton of virtual sports located here, with staggered timings so there’s always something going on.

Casino

NetBet does have casino. Despite the name of the brand, it's incredibly easy to find their casino offering from their sportsbook, with banners across the top. NetBet Account Opening Process

A reassuringly easy process. At the top-right of the screen NetBet has their “Join” button. Bettors just need to select this and follow the simple steps as guided through. You’ll be asked for the usual information – name, date of birth, address etc – and once complete be sent a verification email. Clicking this from your inbox will redirect you to the site, and then you’re free to get betting.

Navigation and user experience [desktop v mobile]

The NetBet app is very good. The desktop version of the site works seamlessly, but the app does exactly what you want, and that is to not feel too far removed when you switch from one device to the next, but also being product-led, and designed to suit its purpose, rather than just be a mobile version. The NetBet app feels really clean, and is super simple to navigate, but I will repeat that issue with the double menu bar at the bottom which still feels superfluous. 

Placing a bet

This section should only really highlight if there are issues, as the process is almost identical on every site. Within a few minutes of signing up to NetBet I placed a couple of bets on different sports, one of which took advantage of the welcome offer, and I used their bet builder feature, which was very indeed. 

Managing your account

As mentioned above, the design really helps this along. On the desktop version, it’s stuff to the  left of the screen. On the app, it’s all at the bottom, with just the login at the top. I haven’t experienced any issues logging in, or finding customer service options, either. Overall, it feels like NetBet has got this part nailed.

NetBet Responsible Gambling Features

As with all online betting companies, responsible gambling should be and will be an essential element of the service provided.

Expect KYC procedures and document supply as a matter-of-course, to confirm your account after you have deposited a certain level of funds and in the event of any large wins.

You can set limits for yourself across depositing options and daily staking options too, so you can set your levels and keep control of your gambling.

Expect NetBet to contact you via your preferred communication method if there are suspicious activities on your account. This protects your account from being accessed by someone other than you and ensures you control your gambling activity. NetBet have a legal obligation to question your activity if they believe it to be suspicious.

As part of NetBet's commitment to safer gambling, they aim to make zero revenue from harmful gambling by the end of 2023.

NetBet Review Summary 

There is a reason that NetBet is considered one of the best bookies in the UK, and that’s because as an all-round product it is unbelievably consistent, and that consistency is at a very high level.

We mentioned that, based on our data, it ranks as one the Top 10 bookies, for four different categories – basketball, darts, in-play betting and Best Odds Guaranteed. That puts it among the above average bookies in the UK, but just as important is the fact that all the other sports, or product features, are still excellent. The only thing I think not covered to this level is Politics and Entertainment betting, while the app is good without being great.

I love the in-play statistics that are present on pretty much every sport here, plus the Bet Assist tool is a nice little feature mainly because it doesn’t feel intrusive. 

The odds are excellent across the board and you’ll be hard-pressed to find events that aren’t covered at NetBet. Overall, it’s experience shows and is definitely one of the better bookies in the industry.
