1. Starburst
Released in June 2012, Starburst is NetEnt’s most popular slot game. Set in outer space, this mesmerising and fast-paced game is played on 5 reels and 10 paylines from 10p per spin. With Win Both Ways payouts (i.e. from left to right and right to left), the aim is to land Starburst Wilds on any of the 3 middle reels.
When a Starburst Wild lands, it expands to give you a wild reel and a free re-spin. If another Starburst Wild lands, another wild reel is awarded as well as another re-spin. With up to 3 wild reels and re-spins, there are max wins of 500 times your total bet per spin/re-spin.
Offering an RTP rate of 96.09%, Starburst has become one of the most-played online slots ever. As a result, you will find many no wager free spins offers on the cult favourite. Finally, NetEnt has created 2 sequels with Starburst XXXtreme (number 6 on the list of best NetEnt slots) and Starburst Galaxy.
2. Dead or Alive 2
A follow-up to Dead or Alive, the Wild West-themed Dead or Alive 2 was released in April 2019. With 5 reels and 9 paylines, you aim to take down infamous outlaws Apache the Kid, Della Rose, Jesse James, Belle Star and Billy the Kid. It’s playable from just 9p per spin.
Focusing on 3 free spins features, the Train Heist Free Spins comes with an increasing multiplier up to 16x. In the Old Saloon Free Spins, wilds are sticky with 5 sticky wilds awarded extra free spins. My favourite is the High Noon Saloon Free Spins where sticky wilds transform into 2x or 3x sticky multiplier wilds.
With their values multiplying each other, wins of up to 111,111.11 times your total bet can be won in the feature as a whole. Dead or Alive 2 also benefits from a high 96.8% RTP rate and is considered one of the best Wild West slots around. If you want games with high RTP rates, check out OLBG’s guide to the best payout slots.
3. Gonzo’s Quest
Released in November 2011, Gonzo’s Quest was NetEnt’s first platinum slot game. With 5 reels and 20 paylines, it’s based on conquistador Gonzo’s mission to find the lost golden city (El Dorado). You can play from 20p per spin.
It was the first game to use the Avalanche feature. When a winning combination lands, the winning symbols are replaced by new ones giving you another chance to win. With each Avalanche, the multiplier increases up to 5x in the base game. In the Free Fall feature, Avalanches will increase the multiplier up to 15x.
With a 95.97% RTP rate and 37,500 times bet max wins, Gonzo’s Quest is as iconic as Starburst. With various slot sequels featuring Gonzo, the Avalanche feature gave way to cascading wins, cascades and tumbles found in countless slot games today.
4. Piggy Riches
Based on filthy rich pigs, Piggy Riches was released in September 2010. With 5 reels and 15 paylines, you can play from 15p per spin. With a unique style, look out for the Gentleman Pig Wild symbol as he trebles your payout when part of a winning combination.
In the Free Spins feature, choose from Lady Pig Scatter symbols to win a free spins and multiplier combination. There is a multiplier of up to 5x available as well as up to 28 free spins in total.
With a 96.38% RTP rate and 2,746 times bet max wins, Piggy Riches is a cult favourite which was chosen by sister company Red Tiger Gaming to become the first game to get the Megaways treatment (in January 2020, Piggy Riches Megaways was released with Piggy Riches 2 Megaways released in June 2024).
With a 96.38% RTP rate and 2,746 times bet max wins possible, Piggy Riches has been a permanent fixture at UK slot sites since its release in 2010. Find out why with our detailed review and free-to-play demo.
5. Mega Fortune
Released in January 2009, Mega Fortune has become one of the world’s most-played progressive jackpot slots. With a luxury theme and set in Monte Carlo, it has 5 reels and 25 paylines and can be played from 25p per spin.
There is a Free Spins feature where you choose from the triggering scatters to win up to 15 free spins with a 5x multiplier. With more free spins and multiplier increases available, there are wins of 2,162 times your total bet.
However, the focus is on the Bonus Wheel feature. Cash prizes can be won but you want to land on an arrow to move you to a more lucrative inner wheel. With Rapid and Major jackpots up for grabs, there is a diamond-encrusted arrow in the third and final wheel.
This will land you the Mega Jackpot which pays an average of £2.96 million every 105 days. The biggest UK jackpot won was £6.2 million with the biggest jackpot €17.86 million. If you want to win the biggest progressive jackpots, check out OLBG’s guide to the best and biggest jackpot slot games:

6. Starburst XXXtreme
The highly-anticipated sequel to Starburst, Starburst XXXtreme is a 5 reel, 9 payline slot game playable from 10p per spin. Released in July 2021, it comes with Starburst Wilds on the 3 middle reels that expand and award re-spins with locked wild reels.
The difference from the original game is that the locked wild reels contain multipliers up to 150x. If Starburst Wilds land on all 3 central reels, the multipliers can combine up to 450x! There is a randomly-triggered Random Wilds feature that awards 1 to 3 Starburst Wilds which then expand and come with multipliers of up to 150x.
With a 96.26% RTP rate, Starburst XXXtreme comes with max wins of 200,000 times your total bet: quite the contrast to the 500 x bet found in the original game. As a result, the XXXtreme version is one of the highest-paying slots found online.
7. Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior
One of NetEnt’s many branded slot games, Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior is an official slot for the iconic video game. Played on a 5x5 grid using Cluster Pays from 20p per spin, you choose your favourite character who takes on random opponents.
Each character has its own Wild Combo feature. If you lose your battle, you get to smash up the car to win cash prizes. If you win, you will trigger the Beat the Boss Free Spins feature where you advance to another level with an increased multiplier if you emerge victorious. In the last level, you take on M. Bison for a 10x multiplier.
With a 96.06% RTP rate and 7,142 times bet max wins, Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior depicts the video game perfectly including the 8-bit graphics and all the game’s characters such as Ken, Chun Li and E. Honda.
8. Vikings
The official slot game for the television series of the same name, Vikings is a 5 reel slot with 243 ways to win. Featuring the main characters such as Floki, Lagertha and Ragnar Lothbrok, you can play from 20p per spin.
There is a Hotspot feature where all Viking symbols transform into the triggered fully stacked Viking symbol. With the Shield Wall feature, a cluster of mystery symbols appears which transform into a randomly chosen symbol.
In the Raid Spins feature, you play with 7 reels and 78,125 ways to win as well as 3 Hotspots. When a fully stacked Viking symbol lands in 1 of the Hotspots, all Viking symbols transform into that symbol which can result in 10,000 times bet max wins. With a 96.05% RTP rate, Vikings is one of the best TV-themed slot games available.
9. Jungle Spirit: Call of the Wild
Take a walk on the wild side with the Jungle Spirit: Call of the Wild slot. This jungle adventure has 5 reels and 243 ways to win and can be played from 20p per spin.
Released in April 2017, symbols with a butterfly on them that are part of a win will expand to cover the entire reel in the Symbol Expansion feature. Look out for butterflies expanding 1 to 5 symbols that are part of a win.
In the Free Spins feature, you’ll play with 1,024 ways to win on 1 of 5 free spins modes. The animal you opt for will only appear on the reels. The Tiger will give you fewer free spins but has the highest win potential of 7,678 times your total bet per free spin whilst the Cobra awards 20 free spins with 3,072 x bet max win potential. Finally, Jungle Spirit: Call of the Wild comes with a high 96.47% RTP rate.
10. Aloha! Cluster Pays
Released in March 2016, Aloha! Cluster Pays makes our 10 best NetEnt slots list as it was the first Cluster Pays slot game. Played on a 6x6 grid, winning combinations are formed when 9 or more matching symbols appear in a cluster (i.e. horizontally or vertically adjacent). With a Hawaiian theme, you can spin away from 10p per spin.
With a Substitution symbol that transforms into the adjacent symbol to give you the highest winning combination in a cluster, cluster wins can randomly activate the Sticky Win Re-Spins feature where winning symbols are held in position with the others re-spinning. If the winning cluster increases, re-spins keep coming until no more matching symbols appear and increase the win.
In the Free Spins feature, there are up to 60 free spins to be won. Look out for the Symbol Drop mechanic which sees low-value symbols removed from the grid for bigger win potential. With a 96.42% RTP rate, Aloha! Cluster Pays comes with 2,000 times bet max wins. If you want more Cluster Pays slots, check out OLBG’s guide to the best 10:
