Bookies now go 3/1 that TikTok will be sold with rumours of sale on the cards
Republicans overwhelmingly voted through a bill earlier this month that could see TikTok banned in the US and this could see the platform sold in the United States.
Current president Joe Biden has previously pledged to sign it into law if it passes through the Senate meaning that the app could be banned in the US app stores.
This would mean that the current owners of the platform ByteDance would have to sell it's stake in the company to an American company to keep it going in that territory.
The latest betting market makes it 3/1 that TikTok is sold before August with ByteDance having to decide whether to keep the business or potentially lose out on more than 170m users.
The FBI have previously said that TikTok could be used by China to harvest data and divide the American people in a time where it seems easier than ever to do so with the rise of social media.

Further reports say that the USA may decide to ban the platform if it's not sold to an American company
If TikTok isn't sold to an American, it's extremely likely that the USA becomes the second country in the world to ban the platform following India who did so back in 2020.
Donald Trump said earlier this week that he was against banning TikTok in America saying that kids would “go crazy without it” and that it would benefit Facebook and Meta.
Trump has a longstanding negative opinion on Facebook and has also said in the past that the company is the "enemy of the people" in terms of social media.
