Iraq 3/1 favourite to be the next country to ban X

Iraq remains the betting favourite to be the next country to ban Social Media and News platform X with bookmakers continuing to offer odds.

The latest odds suggest a 25% chance that X, formerly known as Twitter, is banned across the country 10 years on from a previous ban on social media in the country.

BBC News reported back in June 2014 that the Iraqi government had blocked Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms in a battle to restrict Isis.

Fast forward 10 years later and it may well be that the censorship of the platform returns in a time where its power is at an all-time high.

Elon Musk's X was previously banned from Brazil

Brazil's Supreme Court lifted a ban on X a month ago today after the social media platform paid big fines and banned accounts that were accused of spreading misinformation.

Elon Musk's company paid fines totalling 28 million reais, around ÂŁ3.8m, and will appoint a local representative for the platform.

Justice Alexandre de Moraes had previously blocked access to X across Brazil after the platform refused to ban accounts that were deemed to be spreading misinformation about the 2022 Brazilian Presidential election.

Now though the social media site's Global Affairs page released a statement saying it is proud to return to Brazil.

Asia leads the latest market to be the next continent to see an X ban

Asia still leads the way in the betting odds to be the next continent to ban X with various specials offered.

The latest market says there's a 60% chance of seeing a ban happen in a country or place in Asia of the X platform according to those latest odds.
