U2 have current residency and are reportedly close to agreeing an extension
U2 are the first band to have a residency at the Las Vegas Sphere after opening the $2.3 billion venue back in September for the first of 25 pencilled in shows.
Their run of concerts is set to end on December 16th but the latest reports from the New York Post say that the band have agreed to an extra 12 concerts to extend their residency.
With massive costs of making each show it is easier for James Dolan, executive chair of Madison Square Garden Entertainment, to keep a band in its residency rather than paying for a fresh set of production.
The famous venue cost a reported $2.3 billion
The Las Vegas Sphere was originally set to cost around $1.2 billion with early estimated costs set around that figure, but it eventually passed $2b following the global supply chain crisis.
The Sphere is the biggest sphere-shaped building in the world standing at 366 feet tall and 516 wide with the building being able to fit the Statue of Liberty in.
17,500 people can be seated in the venue, with the capacity rising to 20,000 when standing is offered and there are also 23 VIP suites.
Outside of the venue, the Sphere's reach makes it a huge money maker when it comes to advertising with 1.2 million LEDS stretched around it being able to show anything.
X member Pitch Deck Guy posted the Sphere's pitch for advertising which stated that 1 week of airtime on there would set you back $650,000.
