Mark Chapman is now 1/2 to replace Jeff Stelling as the presenter of Soccer Saturday

Jeff Stelling officially announced his departure from Soccer Saturday this past weekend and bookmakers are already offering odds on who his replacement will be.

Mark Chapman is the 1/2 favourite in the betting market to replace Stelling and his recent presenting work for the EFL Cup on Sky Sports could see him get the role.

Chapman is arguably best known for his presenting work on the BBC on Match of the Day 2 and would slot in fine when it comes to taking over from Stelling.

William Hill say there's a 66% chance that he takes over from the long-serving Soccer Saturday presenter next with his odds clear at the top of the market.

Next Soccer Saturday Presenter Odds Probability
Mark Chapman 1/2 66.7%
Julian Warren 4/1 20.0%
Laura Woods 4/1 20.0%

Julian Warren, who covers Stelling for Soccer Specials at times when he is ill, is 4/1

Julian Warren is joint second favourite in the betting market and he would arguably be the most natural replacement for Stelling going forward on Soccer Saturday.

Warren has hosted Soccer Special, the midweek edition of Soccer Saturday, for a number of years now and also replaces Stelling on the weekend show when he can't make it.

The latest odds only give him a 20% of taking over from Stelling permanently but you would think that Sky would see Warren as a straightforward replacement for Stelling.

Laura Woods, Alex Scott and Michelle Owen are three women presenters who could see a gender change for the show's main presenter

Soccer Saturday has been an important show for women in football with their matchday coverage regularly having women pundits around the grounds up and down the UK.

Michelle Owen currently presents EFL coverage on Sky Sports and has previously done matchday coverage on Soccer Saturday meaning she could fit into the show easily.

Laura Woods is 4/1 in the betting market and has great experience as a presenter on Sky, ITV, DAZN and much more and has a 20% chance of taking over from Stelling.

What the expert says..
We may well see a woman presenter take over from Stelling next on Soccer Saturday with Laura Woods the joint second favourite in the betting market at 4/1!
