Who Will Be The Next Stockport County Manager
To get a take on who could potentially be the next Stockport County manager, it can sometimes help to look back at past appointments and who was quoted in previous betting markets for the position.
Keith Hill
Image: skysports
Lancashire born Keith Hill has spent his managerial career on both sides of the Pennines having been at the helm of Rochdale (twice) Barnsley, Bolton, Tranmere Rovers and Scunthorpe. Two promotions with Rochdale in 2010 and 2014 shows that he has the knowledge and experience to get clubs out of League 2 although at some of his clubs he and his teams have performed poorly (Barnsley, Bolton, Scunthorpe). He was quoted at 4/1 for the Stockport County vacancy ahead of Dave Challinor being appointed.
Paul Ince
Image: PA Sport
Ince has managed six clubs, with his first as player manager at Macclesfield Town in 2006. From there, he went to Milton Keynes Dons, Blackburn Rovers, back to Milton Keynes Dons,, Notts County, Blackpool; and Reading. He had the most success at MK Dons where he won the League 2 Championship in the 2007-08 season.
Michael Flynn

The Newport-born Flynn started off his managerial career at his home town club where he had 4 seasons between 2017 and 2021. During his time there Newport County twice lost in the Play Off Finals. In October 2021 he resigned from the Welsh side. The following year he was back in football at Walsall and then on to Swindon Town in May 2023.
Chris Beech
Image: ITVX
Having been at near neighbours Rochdale both as a caretaker and assistant manager he is often quoted when a vacancy arises at Stockport County. His first full time managerial position came at Carlisle United in 2019. He started well before the COVID pandemic took hold and when football returned Carlisle were playing catch up, they finished mid-table at the end of the 2020-21 season. The 2021-22 season saw players sold and the side struggling to win games and Beech was sacked by Carlisle in October 2021 and is now with National League side AFC Fylde. He may be seriously considered for any future vacancy at Stockport as he has a reputation for developing players and getting the best out of limited resources.
