In September 2024, after a defeat to St Mirren and with Hearts bottom of the SPL, the club sacked manager Steven Naismith. His record (PL65 W28 D12 L25) gave him a win rate of 43%, but their terrible start to the 2024/25 season (PL6 W0 D1 L5) saw the former Scottish International dismissed from Tynecastle Park. The new man in the hot seat is former Blackpool and QPR manager Neil Critchley. His task is to keep the club in the SPL, and he hit the ground running in his opening game with a 4-0 home victory. If another change occurs, the leading bookmakers will have all the next Hearts manager betting.

Who Could Be The Next Hearts Manager

Here are some potential candidates to become next manager of Hearts based on previous news discussion and betting odds

Frankie McAvoy

The former Preston North End manager (March 2021 - December 2022) is now in situ as the Hearts Academy director. He will surely be under consideration if he decides to apply for any future vacancy. McAvoy was at odds of around 8/1 to succeed Robbie Neilson in April 2023.

Stephen Robinson

Stephen Robinson oversees Cinch Premiership rivals St Mirren and has been in Paisley since February 2022. A move to Hearts does not seem on the cards, although Robinson was heavily linked to Tynecastle in 2019 when Craig Levein was sacked and when Robbie Neilson left the club in 2023.

Neil MacFarlane

The ex-Hearts midfielder played more than seventy times for the club between 2002 and 2006. He moved into coaching and management and has spent time at various clubs, including a spell as a manager with Kidderminster Harriers. He is currently coaching in London at Brentford as well as the Scottish Under 19 side. Some fans may see MacFarlane as a risk as he is yet to manage a club the size of Hearts.

Paul Lambert

The complete opposite of McFarlane is Paul Lambert, the much travelled manager if appointed at Hearts would be managing his 10th club.
