It is a given that any new manager needs to share their ambition. The following managers featured in the bookmaker odds during previous managerial changes.
Steve Cooper
The underestimated Steve Cooper started his club management career with Swansea. He guided the Championship club to back-to-back playoffs, just falling short in both. He had more success with Nottingham Forest, whom he took into the EPL in 2022. He was dismissed from the East Midlands side in December 2023; Birmingham City may be very lucky to have a manager of his quality available.
Jesse Marsch
Would the American owners be more open to appointing one of their fellow countrymen? The ex-Leeds United manager has more experience than recent Blues appointments, and they will surely go for an established managerial name this time, having got it so wrong with Rooney.
Scott Parker
Parker has managed Fulham, AFC Bournemouth and Club Brugge in Belgium. He left the Cherries under a cloud after his MOTD comments that the club's transfer policy made them unequipped for the EPL. However, his track record shows that he achieved championship promotion for Fulham and Bournemouth, the number 1 goal for all at St Andrews.

He is expected to be back on the shores with future appointments and features in many next-manager betting lists.

Graham Potter
