Shaped well on handicap debut last time, coming from further back than ideal and challenging on a less advantageous part of the track. Big chance here, eased in class and grade.

Showed on second start that had ability when chasing home a sort that went on to be second in the 3yo dash at Epsom at the Derby meeting and fairly bolted up on just fourth start when back on turf and good ground. Looks decent and 9lb rise might even be fair. Speedy sort who should like this quick track and we know Tom Marquand a good judge around here so can make all.

Lazzar could go well here despite top weight. His mark has fallen five pounds since running only 4th last time in a maiden, but he had previously finished 3rd of 12 over course and distance in May.

He has won three times at 5f on good and good to soft ground and on the all-weather. A winner at Lingfield over 5f on his latest outing earlier this month.

Won over course and distance from stall 1 last time and has been lucky with the draw again in 3. This is a much tougher race though, but from 3lb higher has an each-way chance.

Drops to below last winning mark despite having done little wrong in defeat recently. Conditions here should suit much better and looks great value at double digits in this field.

2 novice wins on AW to conclude 2024. Additionally, he secured 3rd place in a Southwell handicap in March, but has faced more challenges on turf since then. Sam Feilden will take the reins, and he has finished in the top positions both times he has raced here. The 3-year-old will be 3lbs lighter and has the potential to secure a place, which at 33/1 would yield a profitable each-way return.

Just Like Magic is a 3-year-old colt trained by Owen Burrows. He runs in this 0-75 handicap, which is unusual for a Burrows inmate as usually his horses run in better contests than this fodder. Disappointing on last start at Chelmsford, finishing 6th out of 7 and starting at 3-1f, there was clearly something amiss, maybe a breathing issue, as a first-time tongue tie has been fitted for his return under Jim Crowley. He's been given time to recover, having been off the track for 114 days, but Burrows' horses run well fresh, with 51 wins out of 225 with horses having not run for 91+ days or more (today's jockey Jim Crowley has 24 wins out of 90). He is sired by Aclaim, a three-time Group winner, and his dam is sired by two-time Group winner Hot Streak, so he has a speedy pedigree. It's no wonder Just Like Magic remains a colt. Despite the fact Just Like Magic has drifted like a proverbial barge in the early morning exchanges, I wouldn't be surprised if a flurry of cash comes flowing into the ring come post time.
