This well-bred horse makes his debut for a new stable here after 200 days off. His 4 runs to date after a break have seen the horse never beaten by more than 1.5 lengths. Those were off marks of 78 and 79, and he races here off 75. The jockey has won 3 of his last 14 at the course, and the horse is 4lb lower than his sole win to date. He makes his 4yo debut here and should still be improving, so the 20/1 looks well worth taking.

I'm going to go for Kats Bob in this one, he is up for a five timer now, he escapes a penalty under the handicapper. William Pyle rides again but this time he has his 3lb allowance. So Kats Bob has effectively 6lbs less on his back than his last run at Thirsk. Upped into Class 4 from a Class 5.

Good stable, won at Ripon last season and ran well on its reappearance at Thirsk after a 6-month break. Prominent and pressed leader 2 furlongs out, led halfway, ridden and kept on well inside final furlong despite wandering about a little. Beat Captain Vallo, should come on for that run and looks to have a good chance of following up.
Won on Victoria Harbour @23.00 on Sunday

Kats Bob has obvious claims but has gone up 9lb for Thirsk success and faces a tougher 6f today. With that in mind, Mister Sox could be the one just for running at this trip. All three wins at Catterick: two at 6f, the other at 7f, and the record over 6f is very good. Two wins on the easy side of good and two beaten runs on heavy ground, including a gutsy effort when C/D 2nd. Although the ground might be an issue, I would give solid chances.

ZIP IT UP looked to be a bit keen through her last outing, but her action suggests this going on turf may well be right up her street. It's a 4-hour (202 miles) journey from Hannon's yard to Pontefract, which suggests the trainer thinks she has a good chance of winning. I suspect she'll be able to sneak a place here at a decent price.

The conditions should not pose a problem, but the 4-year-old must bounce back from a lackluster performance at Ripon 13 days ago. With a solid record at this distance and the capable Dave Nolan in the saddle, this horse stands a strong chance. At odds of 22/1, placing an each-way bet is highly recommended.
