4:00 Pontefract Tips

Kings Crown got the win he's deserved from recent attempts and it was done quite stylishly. Has run well at this track previously and won't mind the step up in class with less weight to carry. NAP

Has done his best running at Beverley so far in his career, runner-up there last time out. Although Pontefract is the other way around, it is a track with a stiff finish like Beverley, and he is very well treated on his 2023 winning form.

Glendown won over course and distance last August off 63 and is now on only 56. He had to wait for room from the rear that time from stall 4 and is drawn the same this time. This hold-up horse will need luck in running to get through again.

Of the recent place and win form, I favor Glory Hyde. After some ordinary runs, she bounced back last time to win over 6 furlongs. I favor that as she stayed on powerfully in the closing stages. This 5 furlongs is a stiff 5, and that style does well here.

A model of consistency in recent starts, Match Play arrives here knocking loudly on the door after a string of solid placed efforts in similar company. He faces some in-form rivals, but he runs off a competitive handicap mark and is ideally suited by the 5f trip on good ground. The booking of David Nolan, who has an excellent strike rate of 20% at Pontefract, makes him a true course specialist.

No show at Hamilton last time but had previously been in solid form. Never raced here previously but has shaped as if a stiff 5f would suit and could bounce back.

Showed little in three starts for previous yard, but plenty to like about his debut. Useful claimer on here starting for new yard, and a stiff 5f may be a more suitable task.
