Merchant is the standout selection, having shown progress last season with a win at Wolverhampton. He makes his handicap debut over 1m2f with the strong team of Haggas and Marquand, making him a serious contender. Hallelujah U, trained by James Owen, also has potential, having performed well in previous outings. General Admission is considered a backable prospect at 10/1, with a promising performance last time out and a drop in class. Tipsters recommend focusing on Merchant for a win, while General Admission offers value for each-way betting.

Yet another Godolphin Blue runner here that has strong claims. This 3yo should be spot on now after a recent run when fourth at this track over a mile on soft. Should see a better performance now up to 10f on quicker going as breeding suggests. Showed steady progress last term and can continue an upward curve this year.

This is a tight handicap, but this gelded son of Kameko can give a good account. He ran very well at Beverley last time, and the yard is hitting form again. He appears to be on a workable mark.

James Owen's rise to the top ranks of British racing has been impressive, and all his runners should be considered. He's currently hitting an 11% strike rate, and Hallelujah U has claims today. Already had two visits to the course and ran well the first time in a handicap here latest.

There are only 7 runners in the curtain closer at HQ today but you can still get 3 places and that makes GENERAL ADMISSION a backable prospect at 10/1. Teofilo progeny tend to need their reappearance run in spring (9% SR, A/E 0.6) which puts me off handicap debutant Merchant, meanwhile Watching Stars has to take a big step forward from his run over a mile here LTO now up in class. Lightening Man carries a poor FlatStats rating alongside Kameko’s 6% SR (A/E 0.4) with runners keeping to the same trip but half brother GA showed plenty of ability LTO over a mile at Southwell and is dropping in class on handicap + turf debut. He came 1/2l 4th of 9 that day, running on well to suggest that the step up to 10f will aid his cause here and A Balding’s 4W 2P from 11 runs at HQ (A/E 2.23) over the past fortnight suggests that his charge will be ready. O Murphy’s 10% SR (A/E 1.59) on outsiders in May and Balding’s 9% SR (A/E 1.34) with unfancied runners coming up in trip adds further confidence.

Looking to get back to top form since winning here last September. Now net weight is only 3 lbs higher than the last winning mark when we factor in the 3 lb claimer. So, I think this is something we can work with, which is also helped by dropping down 2 classes.
