Team of Fallon and Haggas combine again here with Art Market. A win over course and distance last time out in this class tempts optimism. An extra lbs of baggage today, but in the same Class 4 and one that has improved since Fallon first rode him on debut last year in a lower class maiden.

Ralph Beckett (SR 18%) trained gelding by Wootton Bassett makes reappearance as a 3yo. Yet to win in five races but went close behind good sorts last year (Royal Playwright, Time For Sandals) and only beaten a neck second of sixteen in first handicap at Class 2 level at Goodwood last August (OR80). Runs off OR85 here. Unexposed and coming in for market interest in this Class 4 handicap. Looks to offer a bit of value. 7f trip, racecourse and going should all suit. Richard Kingscote rides.

I'm backing Spirit Of Leros in the 13:40 at Newmarket. This 3-year-old colt, trained by Marco Botti, has shown promise in his early career, notably securing victories at Lingfield and Newbury over 6f in mid-2024. His pedigree, being by No Nay Never out of Spiritus Sanctus, suggests he possesses both speed and class. After a couple of runs in Meydan earlier this year, he returned to the UK and finished fourth at Beverley over 7f 96y on May 5th, indicating he's regaining form. Stepping into a Class 4 handicap over 7f, a distance he's proven over, could play to his strengths. With David Egan taking the ride, the partnership could prove advantageous. Given his previous successes and potential for improvement, Spirit Of Leros presents a compelling each-way opportunity in this race.
