The Midlands Grand National is a great race as it tends to attract horses who have swerved the Cheltenham Festival handicaps specifically for this £70k race.

David Pipe won the race 4 times between 2011 to 2014 with different horses. Notably, trainers like to book good claimers to take off a few lbs, and as the race is over 4 miles, those lbs can make all the difference. A claiming jockey has won the race 8 times in the last 20 years.
