Alfie Boy returned from a 136 day break with 2 wins in 3 races. He won at this course in April and I also expect a win for Alfie Boy today.

Lost third final strides over a mile and a quarter at Nottingham 2 weeks ago when sent off second favourite in a field of 9. Eased a pound in the official ratings and dropped in trip to this extended mile could pay dividends.

I selected Casilli last time under the same track/distance here, but the horse just didn't show up that day. Still a course and distance specialist, still a speedy type. Big run expected.

Park Street is good odds here and well worth a bet at these prices. A career low mark gives him every opportunity here given his course and distance record. Goes back right-handed and can be forgiven the reappearance run at Thirsk.

Coolree has won twice from 27 starts, including when winning this race last season. He has been unplaced in 8 starts since but was a close-up 4th, beaten just 1.75 lengths at Thirsk last month. He is 4 lbs lower than for last year's win and looks like a good each-way bet with 4 places on offer.

Though Alfie Boy could prove tough to beat, going e/w on course and distance winner Tees George, who ran reasonably well at Thirsk on its reappearance, if improving on that run, could certainly be involved in the finish here today with luck in running.

Northbound is making his stable debut, having moved to Roger Fell in the last fortnight. He has had only one win on turf so far but placed 2nd at Wetherby at the end of last month. Each way possibilities.

Should improve for comeback run here over 1.4 miles and is versatile in regards to distance so drop back to this extended mile should not be an issue. Is a C,D winner who's last 4 wins have come here @ Beverley, back down to last winning mark which was here @ Beverley 5 runs back over 1.2 miles, good apprentice retains ride claiming 3lb and shrewd trainer is coming into form, making current 22/1 decent Ew value in the race.

Evelyns Phoenix didn't offer much on his final 2 runs of last season which was over a longer distance, hes now back at a more suitable distance, his best previous form at this course was the same sort of distance as today's distance of 1mile , also gets ideal ground conditions - Good - Good to Firm suits. That rest may have come at the right time , hopefully fresh and well today , ready to run a good race. Always worth checking out runners from this trainer at this course. MAKALU has been very hit and miss of late, but I just have a niggle about ruling him out. The handicap mark looks manageable based on runs towards the end of last season at Ripon (on firm ground) and Hamilton. Based on those performances, he could still have more to offer and also looks a big price at this level.
