But he shaped well on his handicap debut for the new yard, beaten 3.5 lengths under today's jockey, Gary Carroll, and can go close in this weak-looking handicap full of trainers who struggle to find winners.

Top jockey back up would suggest that connections expecting another big run and very shrewd trainer who is tops here percentage wise last 5 seasons, 50 percent with his 4yo plus in same period, making current 7/1 very good Ew value in the race.

Bit of lazy writing by Spotlight by saying NO SPEED LIMIT was well beaten in this race last year. He tried to make all from a low favorable draw but dropped to 6th in the final 150 yards. I might be mad to think he can go a step further and win at 10 years old, but there’s one or two little bits of hope I’m going to cling onto. Looking at the field, all these are thoroughly exposed. I don’t see anything lurking in the high grass. But he’s drawn low again today (trap 2). He comes into this 7 lbs lower than last year. Nicola Byrnes sheds another 7 lbs. He’s been presented with a good opportunity, albeit he’s thoroughly exposed himself, but at 25/1 I’ll take a chance on the old boy!
