Kalaroun is a 7-year-old gelding trained by Conor O'Dwyer. His official rating was hiked some 12 lb after finishing 2/6 on his penultimate start behind Avala, who won by 6 lengths over 2m 4f on good ground. Avala then finished 6/16 behind Gimme A Buzz, who was making it two wins in a row. The 3/6 Adaliz, who had won the previous race, won next time out, winning a 16-runner handicap hurdle at Tipperary, so solid form lines. Kalaroun has since disappointed in a Punchestown handicap hurdle on his next start. The handicapper has subsequently dropped Kalaroun back down to 87 from 95, so he could bounce back today off the current mark and down slightly in trip on what seems like preferred good ground.

Softer ground would be a help but she has dropped to a very tempting mark these days and the first-time cheekpieces that she sports could be a good way to find her best form again.

3rd of 15 in this race last year, backed in to 22s from 50s. Poor recent form, but the regular jockey has been missing in its last three races. Back on today and is 3 lb lower than last year. Looks a decent each way shout at 28s.
