The Highway to Hell slot begins with 6 reels, 4 rows and 1,296 ways to win. Reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 will have Enhancer Cells in the bottom positions so are not active initially. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more matching symbols appear from left to right, in any position and beginning from the leftmost reel. Just the highest payout per way to win win will be awarded/won.

When it comes to bet options, the minimum bet is 20p per spin. Rising up to £100 a spin, there is a ‘Coins’ icon where you can edit your stake or see all options. Highway to Hell also comes with several special symbols. There is a regular Wild symbol that substitutes for all paying symbols above. The Highway to Hell slot comes with plenty of bonus features. With Avalanches, there is an Avasplit Effect where winning symbols increase in size for more ways to win. Combining xNudge Wild multipliers, xWays, xSplit Wilds and Demon symbols with multipliers, there are Enhancer Cells. They all combine in the Hell Spins feature where Hellevator Boosters can accumulate multipliers to devastating effect.

Avalanches

Beginning with 6 reels, 4 rows and 1,296 ways to win, you will notice there are locked Enhancer Cells at the bottom of the middle 4 reels. When you land a winning combination (3+ matching symbols on successive reels beginning from the leftmost reel), the Avalanche feature comes into play.

The winning symbols explode and disappear to allow new symbols to fall/cascade in. With every win, an Enhancer Cell position unlocks, beginning from left to right.

Avasplit Effect

Additionally, and when winning symbols explode, some of the remaining symbols can be randomly chosen for the Avasplit Effect. This increases their symbol size by 1 giving you more ways to win.

xNudge Wilds

When part of an xNudge Wild symbol lands on the reels, it will nudge up or down until fully visible on the reels it lands on. With each nudge, the xNudge Wild multiplier increases by 1.

If a nudged-over symbol already has a multiplier, its value will also be added to the xNudge Wild multiplier. However, xNudge Wild won’t nudge down on locked Enhancer Cell positions. Finally, xNudge Wilds can begin with a higher starting multiplier if it originates from a Hellevator Booster than already has a multiplier.

Enhancer Cells

Like in other Nolimit games such as Mental, Fire in the Hole 2 and San Quentin 2: Death Row, Highway to Hell comes with Enhancer Cells.

Once unlocked, a symbol is revealed. If the revealed symbol is removed, a new symbol appears in its position on the next avalanche. Symbols never land on Enhancer Cell positions from the main reel area.

Demon

Look out for the Demon symbol landing as this removes a random number of symbols from the reels. The exception are symbols larger than size 1. The Demon symbol transforms into a random paying symbol with a multiplier equal to the number of removed symbols.

If the Demon symbol appears with a winning combination, it is triggered once the winning symbols are removed. It will contain a 1x multiplier value if there is no win with no symbols removed.

xWays

xWays symbols, when they appear, transform into paying symbol or Wild. Revealing 2 to 4 symbols of the same kind, the number of ways to win increases as a result. If multiple xWays symbols land on the reels, all xWays symbols will transform into the same symbol.

xSplit

When the xSplit symbol lands, it splits all symbols on the reel it lands on and doubles the symbol size. Converting itself into a Wild symbol, it can split all symbols bar the Scatter.

Hell Spins

The Highway to Hell slot comes with a Hell Spins feature: it’s triggered by landing 3 Bonus Scatter symbols or a Hellevator Booster in the base game. With 8 free spins awarded, the Hellevator Booster landing when triggering the feature or during the free spins will see it become sticky throughout the feature.

The Hellevator Booster reveals a randomly chosen symbol whilst not being removed by the Demon symbol. If the revealed symbol is part of a winning combination, it will be removed with a new symbol revealed on the next avalanche.

When the Hellevator Booster has a multiplier, the value is stored throughout the feature. If an xNudge Wild increases the Hellevator Booster’s multiplier, it only applies for the current free spin and reverts back to its previous value on the next free spin. Enhancer Cell symbols also reset on every free spin.

There is also a Scatter Meter where landing Scatters are collected. When you collect 3, 2 extra free spins are awarded. Furthermore, a Hellevator Booster is added for the next free spin.

Nolimit Booster

Like with all Nolimit City games, Highway to Hell comes with a Nolimit Booster feature. With 2 options, all details are highlighted below:

In the Highway to Hell slot, Nolimit City has added a lot of their in-house mechanics including xWays, xNudge Wilds, xSplit and Enhancer Cells. Nolimit has focuses more on the latter in previous releases though but it still serves the same functionality.

I found the way to win big is for xSplit and xWays to combine to drastically change the number of ways to win. There is a new Avasplit Effect feature which sees symbols increase their size by 1. I also like the Demon symbol as it removes a random number of symbols and then transforms into a random symbol with a multiplier equal to the number of banished symbols. It did remind me a little of the xZone feature/mechanic found in Gluttony.

In the Hell Spins feature, it’s all about the Hellevator Booster which can collect multipliers. Combined with all the other extras, this is where you’re more like to achieve the 20,066 times bet max wins possible.
