Vine could make a return after Elon Musk hinted earlier this year
Betting odds are now given on Vine returning at some point in 2025 with the 6-second video hosting app potentially coming back after the success of TikTok.
Vine was closed down by Twitter in January 2017 after originally being bought by the company back in 2012 for $30m before launching with an app in 2013.
The service was extremely popular across social media with more than 200m active users at the end of 2015 and 10 years on from that we may see it make a return.
With America potentially banning TikTok it could well be that Elon Musk brings back Vine after he purchased Twitter before rebranding the platform into X.
Musk posted on his X account earlier this year a poll around bringing Vine back with 69% of the 2.2m votes saying that yes he should do.
Will Elon Musk bring back Vine in 2025? | Odds | Probability |

What the expert says...
Vine was shut down in January 2017
Vine was originally closed by Twitter in 2017 following the rise in other platforms such as Snapchat, YouTube and Instagram.
Those platforms, specifically YouTube and Instagram, were already popular but started to have their own short form content allowed to be posted on there.
Previous reports from Axios said that Musk had instructed engineers at Twitter to work on rebooting Vine but that was more than two years ago and there have been no moves since.
