Betting odds now given for September to be the hottest on record
The next week in the UK is expected to see heatwaves all over and bookmakers now offer odds on September being the hottest ever recorded with temperatures rising and rising.
Parts of the UK are expected to see temperatures of over 30C with the washout summer finally giving us some sun after the rest of Europe have had constant heatwaves over the last few months.
The record temperature recorded in a day in September in the UK was back in 1906 in Bawtry, South Yorkshire where temperatures hit 35.6C and we would see a similar heat hit this month.
Betting odds were given last month for August to be the hottest on record at 10/1 but we saw a fairly miserable month in general with hardly any sunny weather.
Fast forward a month later though and Ladbrokes are now giving odds of 2/1 that September is the hottest September on record with that 35.6C needed to be broken.
What the expert says...
Markets given at start of the year around 2023's weather
Various markets were offered at the start of the year around how the weather will be in 2023 with bookies offering odds of 2/1 that this year will be the hottest globally.
It looks like that could end up as a winner with The Washington Post reporting last month that this year is increasingly likely to become the hottest recorded.
That comes after a large amount of the world saw extremely high temperatures due to the El Nino weather pattern.
Festive period nearly upon us and bookmakers will start to offer odds on a White Christmas
Other times of the year where weather betting comes at the forefront of betting specials includes the festive period with bookies usually starting to offer White Christmas odds around October time.
The early indications are that we may well see a White Christmas this year with the extreme weather conditions seen not showing any signs of stopping as we head towards Christmas.
No odds are yet offered for whether or not we'll see snow fall across the UK later this year but as always we have updates on where you can usually find these betting odds.
Our 'Will It Snow in the UK This Christmas' betting blog highlights how to bet on the weather forecast and where you can see these odds usually as well as previous news stories.
