Shant Halajian leads the betting odds to win the 23rd season of Hell's Kitchen

The latest season of Hell's Kitchen is now underway with Gordon Ramsey heading into the kitchen once again to see nine women and nine men face off against each other to be crowned the winner.

This year's season is subtitled "Head Chefs Only" and for the first time in the show's history takes place on the East Coast at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket.

Early betting odds are offered on who will be crowned the ultimate Head Chef this year with 29-year-old Shant Halajian, from Glendale, CA, the early favourite to win the show.

The latest odds suggest a 20% chance that Shant wins Hell's Kitchen with 31-year-old Chicago native Egypt Davis following just behind him in the betting market.

Bookies have unsurprisingly kept the market tight so far with no clear favourite starring above the other Chefs in the opening weeks of Season 23.

Amber Evans was first contestant eliminated from the show this season

The first contestant eliminated from this year's Hell's Kitchen was 32-year-old Amber Evans, who Gordon Ramsay ultimately decided he couldn't trust her to lead his kitchen in the future.

"Amber's inability to cook or even count scallops was all I needed to know that I couldn't count on her to be my next head chef," said Ramsay during the elimination process.

The opening night dinner service was a loss for both teams with both struggling to get going in the season and this lead Ramsay with a tough decision to make, but he eventually chose Amber to be the first to go.
