King Charles leads the way in the betting market for most watched show on Christmas Day

Christmas Day 2024 is set to see a Christmas Cracker for British television with the return one last time for Gavin and Stacey and OLBG look at the latest odds over who will have the most viewers on December 25th.

The King will once again address the nation in his Christmas Day speech and he currently tops the betting market at 1/2 to have the most viewers on linear television this year.

Those odds give a 66.7% chance of the King having the most viewers but those odds are threatened by Gavin and Stacey with the popular show sitting just behind in the betting odds at 8/15.

That gives an implied probability of 65.2% that it'll be James Cordon and Ruth Jones' comedy that has the most views on Christmas Day in 2024.

Gavin and Stacey set to be the big competitor to the King this Christmas

Hit BBC comedy Gavin and Stacey is returning for the final time this Christmas with the show looking to wrap up in style with millions expected to tune in.

The show shockingly returned back in 2019 despite many believing we wouldn't see it again to more than 11.5m viewers watching on BBC One.

The highly-anticipated return of the show aired on BBC One at 8:30pm and had just under half of all TV viewers during that time watching (49.2%).

King's Speech topped the ratings for 2023 with full list covered

The King’s Christmas broadcast once again topped the linear viewing figures on Christmas Day last year with his speech having 5.9m viewers on BBC One.

Christmas Day was a strong one for the BBC last year with 9 out of the Top 10 shows on December 25th airing on BBC One, with The 1% Club the only programme elsewhere on ITV.

Strictly Come Dancing's Christmas Special was only slightly behind King Charles' Christmas address with a difference of 600,000 viewers on BBC One and this year could see Gavin and Stacey as real competitors.
