The leading player award in the world is the Ballon d 'Or. The annual award voted for by journalists, captains, and coaches celebrates the best players in that year. Ballon d'Or Betting

Every year, the Ballon d’Or sparks fierce debate among football fans, and not just about who deserves to win. As the shortlist is announced and speculation intensifies, some betting sites open markets on who will be crowned the world’s best player.

With media narratives, international tournaments, and late-season form all playing a part, betting on the Ballon d’Or has become a way for fans to  test their football knowledge against the bookmakers’ predictions.

How to bet on The Ballon d'Or Award

There is a simple 5 step process to making a bet on the Ballon d'Or

  • Find an site offering odds and bets on this market
  • Find the player you are most interested in wagering on
  • Make that selection and add them to your bet slip
  • Select the stake you wish to wager
  • Confirm

That's it, you are done, your wager is on, and now all you have to do is wait until the award ceremony to discover the winner

If you make the right selection, you win, if your prediction is incorrect you will lose the stake you have wagered just as with any normal bet.

Ballon d'Or Winners

The annual award is presented by the French magazine France Football.

  • Only representatives of the top 100 FIFA-ranked countries will be allowed to vote for the Men's award, and only the top 50 FIFA-ranked countries will be allowed to vote for the Women's award.
  • Voting will now be based on performances across the European football season.
  • Players will be judged on individual performances only.
  • All players from every corner of the world are eligible for the Ballon d'Or prize.
  • Every country is represented with 3 votes, one each from the national team manager, the captain and a nominated sports journalist from that country.

As you can see Messi and Ronaldo have dominated the award since between 2008-2023 taking the trophy in all but one season in that time
