Jude Bellingham is now the 3/1 favourite to win the 2024 Ballon d'Or award

Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham is now at the top of the betting market to win the 2024 Ballon d'Or award with bookmakers putting up early odds for the awards after this year's show on Monday.

Bellingham won the Kopa Trophy for the world's best player aged under 21 at the Ballon d'Or show on Monday which focused on his performances for Borussia Dortmund last season.

The English midfielder has scored 13 goals in 13 games so far in his Real Madrid career after hitting the ground running and he is arguably the in-form player in the world currently.

It's no surprise then to see that Bet365 have him as the early favourite in the betting market to be crowned the 2024 Ballon d'Or next year.

Lionel Messi won the 2023 award after winning the World Cup back in December

Argentina and Inter Miami superstar Lionel Messi was handed the 2023 Ballon d'Or award on Monday night after winning the World Cup for his country in the last 12 months.

Pundits and fans alike were backing Erling Haaland for the award after he won the treble for Manchester City but various leaks in recent weeks pointed towards Messi to win.

The win was Messi's 8th Ballon d'Or with the 36-year-old recognised in Paris on Monday after leaving the city for Miami in the summer transfer window.

OLBG looks at the most wins of the award

Lionel Messi has now won his 8th Ballon d'Or and is the clear record winner of the award with three more wins than his long time rival Cristiano Ronaldo.

  • Lionel Messi with 8 wins
  • Cristiano Ronaldo with 5 wins
  • Michel Platini, Johan Cruyff, and Marco van Basten, each with 3 wins.
