Pio Abad is the new favourite in the Turner Prize 2024 market

Betting odds continue to be offered on the 2024 Turner Prize ahead of next week's ceremony and there's now a new favourite in the betting market with Pio Abad leading the way.

Abad is a Filipino visual artist that is based in London and is up for nomination for his exhibition 'To Those Sitting in Darkness' which is displayed at The Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.

Previous betting odds put the artist as third favourite in the betting market at 7/2 but he has since shortened into 2/1 for the award.

Those odds with betting sites now give an implied probability of 33.3% that Abad is crowned winner of the award with former favourite Delaine Le Bas drifting in the betting market.

The betting market has changed right around for the 2024 Turner Prize with bookmakers now putting Pio Abad as the outright favourite at 2/1 ahead of Claudette Johnson. Former favourite Delaine Le Bas has now drifted right out to joint third favourite at 3/1 in the market!

The four-person shortlist for the Turner Prize this year sees Delaine Le Bas, Jasleen Kaur and Claudette Johnson join Abad in being nominated for the award which sees the winner receive ÂŁ25,000.

Le Bas has been nominated for her presentation Incipit Vita Nova. Here Begins The New Life/A New Life Is Beginning at Secession, Vienna.

Kaur is picked for her solo exhibition Alter Altar at Tramway, Glasgow.

Johnson is nominated for two exhibitions this year with Presence at The Courtauld Gallery, London, and Drawn Out at Ortuzar Projects, New York both Turner Prize nominees.

This year is the 40th anniversary of Turner Prize

This year sees the Turner Prize celebrate its 40th anniversary of the award and it is set to return to Tate Britain for the first time in 6 years.

There is currently an exhibition at the Tate Britain of all 4 nominees work which will run until 16 February 2025.

The 2024 winner will be announced next week on 3 December 2024 with the three shortlisted artists who don't win still receiving ÂŁ10,000 each.
