2026 Women's European Volleyball Championship Preview
Like the men's equivalent of the continental tournaments, it was announced by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball that all continental tournaments would take place in even-numbered years, meaning the next tournament will take place in 2026 instead of 2025.
The tournament is expected to continue with the co-hosting between four countries, a feature that has now been seen in the past three tournaments.
Turkey won their first-ever gold medal in 2023 when defeating Serbia 3-2 in the final having previously won silver twice and three bronzes.
Serbia has now made the last four finals and is one of the more consistent performers at this tournament, they won it in both 2017 & 2019 but have been defeated in their last two finals.

Back-to-back winners are not that uncommon, as you can see below Poland (2003-05), Italy (2007-09), Russia (2013-15) & Serbia (2017-19) all successfully defended their title once, the only countries not to do so were Serbia (2013) & Italy (2023). The finals are not really that close either, only three of the last ten needed all five sets to decide the winner and three have been 3-0 whitewashes.
