  • Chelsea about to sign Romelu Lukaku from financially strapped Inter Milan.

  • The Belgian expected to be supported to be this season's top goalscorer by football tipsters.

Romelu Lukaku heading back to Stamford Bridge ?

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich a huge admirer and would love to have Romelu Lukaku back at the 'Bridge' according to reports.

The Belgian star's four goals at Euro 2020 has inevitably sparked transfer speculation following on from helping his current side Inter Milan to the Serie A title last season with 24 goals, a tally only bettered by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Currently, Belgium's all-time top scorer with 64 goals from 98 appearances, Lukaku's club career record is just as impressive with over 190 goals approaching 400 appearances since starting out with Anderlecht in 2009.

His only blank spell followed when joining Chelsea in 2011 making only ten appearances for his parent club without scoring. However, successful loan spells during his time at Stamford Bridge with West Brom (17 goals in 35 appearances) and Everton (15 goals from 31 appearances) sparked a £28 million deal to Goodison Park permanently where he hit 53 goals in 110 games in three seasons.

A mixed spell at Manchester United followed still managing 28 goals from 66 appearances in two seasons before his move to current club Inter Milan has seen the striker flourish again with 47 goals in 72 games.

Reports Suggest Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is a huge admirer of Lukaku and would love to have him back at Stamford Bridge, a sense of unfinished business in a way with the Belgian proving his worth away from the 'Bridge' whilst on loan despite the lack of game time for The Blues.

The current UCL champions are reportedly targeting a top striker to spearhead their Champions League defence and are also in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund's Erling Braut Haaland. Manager Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea reign began with a shoring up of the defence however an out and out goal scorer was lacking with Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham topping the scoring charts with 12 goals apiece, Lukaku's goals record speaks for itself.

Club Goals Appearances
2009-2011 Anderlecht 33 73
2011-2014 Chelsea 0 10
2012-2013 West Brom (loan) 17 35
2013-2014 Everton (loan) 15 31
2014-2017 Everton 53 110
2017-2019 Manchester Utd 28 66
2019-2021 Inter Milan 47 72

Bookmakers make Manchester City second favourites to sign Lukaku who was recently asked via a social media interview whether he would consider a move to the 'blue side' of Manchester having previously spent two seasons at Old Trafford.

EPL champions City are looking to replace the released Sergio Aguero with a top striker and are favourites to sign Harry Kane if he decides to leave Tottenham. In addition to the race for Lukaku, City also figure highly in the Erling Haaland next club betting odds with bookmakers.

With uncertainty surrounding England striker Harry Kane's future, Tottenham have understandably been priced up in the bookmaker odds for Romelu Lukaku's potential next club, Spurs have also reportedly been linked with Southampton striker Danny Ings.
