The NIFL Premiership consists of twelve teams that play each other three times over the regular season for a total of thirty-three games each.

The winner of the league goes into next season's qualification for the Champions League and those in second and third head to the qualification stage for the Europa League.
The other three teams from the top section all head to a playoff for next season's Europa League.
