La Liga Giants Real Madrid Looking To Slash Wage Bill
With a year remaining on his contract, could Gareth Bale be heading home sooner rather than later ?

Since Wales' last 16 exit from Euro 2020, speculation has been rife regarding the immediate future of captain Gareth Bale.

Gareth BaleThe Real Madrid star who turns 32 on 16th July 2021 was reportedly not happy about answering questions regarding possible retirement from club football after his contract expires next year.

Some reports suggest Gareth is prepared to see out his final year at Real Madrid especially with the managerial appointment of Carlo Ancelotti following Zidane's departure.

However Madrid may be looking to offload sooner rather than later after reports suggest La Liga require the Spanish giants to reduce their hefty wage bill which may also impact on the future of higher earners including the likes of Eden Hazard who has endured limited game time since moving to Madrid.

Bookmakers have priced up odds for Gareth Bale's potential next club and destination following the summer transfer window and they have a possible return home to his birthplace club with EFL Championship side Cardiff heading the betting.

However, MLS franchise LA Galaxy are reportedly the only club to have made contact with Real Madrid to date over a possible move for the Wales star who has fallen out of favour at the Bernabeu in recent seasons. Former Madrid star David Beckham joined the MLS and 'Galaxy' after his Real stint and interestingly his fairly new MLS franchise Inter Miami are quoted in the bookmakers list as a potential destination.

Gareth was loaned out to his former club Tottenham back in January until the end of the 2020/21 season and despite not being a regular starter for Spurs he still managed 15 goals (including 3 in the Europa League) from 32 appearances in his second spell at the North London EPL club and regained his match sharpness ahead of Euro 2020.

After his loan spell ended, it was reported a third return to Tottenham for Gareth was unlikely however Spurs now have a new manager in former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo and the bookmakers have not ruled out a return making Spurs third in their betting odds.
