Won on his first and only start last year at Salisbury and was not seen until 16 days ago in a novice 6f here at Kempton but was carrying an enormous 10st-8lb. Did well with that welter weight to finish 4th of 12 and returns over course and distance tonight off what could be a lenient opening mark of 77.

I am picking Chalk Mountain as it has run at this course and distance 5 times, and it has managed to win 1 as well as placing in 2 of them. Its last 2 runs out were not the best as it failed to place in either of them, but it has been on a break of 144 days, so hoping that will help it. It is running in this class 4 handicap off a rating of 81. Back in October, it placed 2nd in a class 3 handicap off a rating of 82, finishing just a length and a half behind the winner.

The race at Doncaster, they went off far too quick. Although this horse did have trouble in running, I think it would not have finished much better than it did due to using energy too early. But if the race tonight back at 7f is run at a decent pace, the horse could do better.
