The handicapper has left him on the same mark as last time out, which suggests the handicapper agrees he didn't run his race last time out. Gavin Sheehan is back onboard this time, which is a positive given he was onboard when this lad won this same race last term. Admittedly, that win did come off a 7 lbs lower mark. He did manage to win off just a 4 lbs lower mark on his penultimate run, however, with the first-time visor applied. He beat the Paul Nicholls-trained Welcome To The Cartries easily, with just over 4 lengths separating them at the line. Ignoring the last run, I think he can run another solid race in this event, despite being higher in the weights this season.

Olly Murphy's 6yo gelding had a bit in hand when he landed a handicap hurdle by 2 lengths off a mark of 128 at Cheltenham last time out in an impressive performance, as he was worth more than that winning margin would suggest. This hugely progressive horse (he beat Gowel Road, winner of the Cleeve, in a handicap (also at Cheltenham) in December) is a big player in this heat.

A 5-time career winner who has won all the last 3 starts, including over this CD last time out. Carries an 8 lbs penalty today but won going away last time and has a big chance again today.

Ki Woo looks very progressive. He has won his last 2 races in impressive style and could still be ahead of the handicapper after his easy win at Bangor last time out.

My Bobby Dazzler is closely handicapped with a few better-fancied rivals in this race. Finished 2nd here last May and looks a huge each-way price in an open-looking race.
