He created a spectacular visual impression when overcoming deep greenness to score convincingly against 10 rivals over this trip at Carlisle on his debut. He backed up that performance by running an absolute stormer to finish a close third at Ascot, where he was only beaten by a pair of highly regarded, pattern-bound juveniles. A progressive youngster who looks well suited to Goodwood's turning seven furlongs. His Epsom form suggests he'll handle the undulations, while his ability to travel smoothly before quickening is exactly the sort of profile I look for in these competitive nurseries. A strong each-way proposition.

Seemed to know what was expected of him when making his debut in a 6f minor event at Nottingham at the beginning of June and showed considerable improvement next time with a close midfield finish in the Coventry at Royal Ascot, again over 6f. He stepped up to 7f for his last two starts at Sandown and Newbury, finishing 2nd in both races. He deserves a change of luck, and hopefully a move into handicaps and the fitting of cheekpieces for the first time can bring that about.

I can see this nursery going to a double-digit runner and of those THE GINGER KID appeals at 11/1 (5 places). The colt by Mehmas won at Nottingham in June before being tried at Gr2 level in the Coventry, failing to beat a rival home. That clearly came too soon in his career so I'm willing to forgive him and a 1.5l defeat in a tactical 4-runner affair at Chester earlier this month was a step back in the right direction. Owner TBT Racing's 22% SR (A/E 1.59) with Irish-born horses and 20% SR (A/E 1.63) with moderately fancied runners boosts claims further.

Primal ran too freely at Newbury last time and could do better now in a Nursery running down the hill at Goodwood over 7f off a lowly mark of 72 with a decent draw in stall 5.

This 2-year-old presents compelling each-way potential at 22/1, given that Charlie Johnston's advancing filly has already triumphed in a nursery, showcasing her form over the 7f journey.

Rocket Boots looks ready for a step up in trip to 7f and based on his 2nd in a novice at Doncaster two starts back, could be well treated from an opening mark of 74. Horses in behind that day are now rated considerably higher and I'm happy to draw a line through last time where having been turned out relatively quickly he was hampered at a crucial time and eased down. Freshened up since and I wonder whether that was with these valuable Nursery races in mind. Yard couldn't be in better form and he's a huge price.
