Genuine Jim ran by far his best race yet five days ago over course and distance. He was four lengths 4th out of 27 runners at 100-1, ridden by today's ten-pound claiming jockey, Nicola Burns, in only her eighth ride. He ran on well in the last half furlong and did the best of those drawn low, behind today's favourite, Purring Along. Drawn much better today, he should go close.

Cuban Rock runs from one pound out of the handicap again but ran well last time, finishing third, two and three-quarter lengths behind Sixcor at Musselburgh. He is five pounds better off with that horse here at Newcastle, with Amie Waugh taking off three pounds again.
