Unbeaten so far. Won the 2000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes. Main rival has a poor draw. My NB selection today

The 3yo improved on his return run to win the Irish 2000 Guineas by 3L. He was beaten just a short head at Royal Ascot, behind Bow Echo who he meets again, however, jockey Ryan Moore went for a gap on the rail after turning into the straight and was then forced to go for home much earlier than he would have liked. I don't see him getting the fractions wrong in this Group 1 contest.

A race to savor for connoisseurs. Amongst the line-up is the undefeated 3yo Bow Echo. I think this course will be ideal for the Godolphin-owned 4yo Opera Ballo, who I expect will make each furlong marker a winning one.

Lake Forest had a cracking run yesterday when winning the World Pool Lennox Stakes and could be worth a shot at this step up to 1 mile, a trip he has not been great at in the past. I am sure connections know what they are doing. If it's not, too soon EW.

Course winner that looks held on the face of form with Gstaad, but it's his first go at a mile and he's bred for further than he's faced so far. A game horse that could be undone by a wide draw, but hopefully that means he's able to keep out of trouble for all he doesn't want to be kept too far back. You've probably got to hope Bow Echo finds some trouble from stall 4, and the pacemakers in here could just set it up nicely for Gstaad. We shouldn't see a repeat of last year with one of them winning. The older horses are not to be dismissed either with Opera Ballo bringing some class to what is a cracking Sussex. This horse could potentially halve in price with a couple of non runners likely that ran today.

QIRAT is the other one here that is considered after the run yesterday. Again probably does come out but if he stays in it'll be because connections think he's got the potential to pick up some prize money or they wouldn't risk him so soon.

Lost second towards the finish when third over a mile in the Juddmonte at Ascot 18 days ago. Comes here in great heart having won over the extended mile at Epsom in the race prior to that and could run a big race at a decent price for each way appeal.

Proven at the very top level on fast ground. Can run a very tactical race here & has stamina for the distance. Could run into a place

Despite Oisin Murphy abandoning him I'm happy to give Never So Brave another chance. He rose quickly through the ranks last year, winning a Royal Ascot handicap from a mark of 105 before claiming the Group 2 Summer Mile at Ascot. He peaked by winning the Group 1 City Of York over 7f and was below his best on Champions Day when only 7th. He's not been suited by the race setup on any of his starts this season which have been tactical and often slowly run affairs and I think this super competitive Group 1 will play much more to his strengths as will the quick ground.
