CANARIA QUEEN has won two races at 5f. Seventh over 6f at Redcar on her latest outing last month. Dropped in trip to 5f should suit. Seems well treated and could well be able to win this race.

Azucena is from 10 runs on turf but a winner of two races on the all-weather and has been dropped to a new low mark of 47 after a promising 6th of 17 at Thirsk on her first run of the season.

Came in second eleven days ago and should be in similar form, if not better, today. Lost by a head then and is only a 2lb rise. The ratings look to top this bunch, and she should go one better today.

Race 5 at Catterick today is a Handicap (Class 6) for 4-year-olds and upwards over 1,006 m. The suggested wager is for the each way on the 5-year-old mare Jamie's Choice from the Tracy Waggott yard. She will be ridden by Connor Beasley. This daughter of Peace Envoy has, since breaking her maiden, remained consistent and has her best effort bar her two wins at this course and distance. She looks a lively threat in this field and should be included.

Ex-Irish trained 4yo. Respectable UK debut run at the start of the month after 8 months off the track. Can improve for the run, a good low draw for this 5f dash, a 2lb lower mark now, and he has a strong jockey change. Three runs back, he was only beaten 2L on fast ground, in a 13-runner handicap, against much stronger rivals than what he now faces.

Dunnington Lad won off 52 and 53 at Ripon last year after which the handicapper got his measure. He has run poorly since when unfancied and returns today with a mark of 50. A couple of prep races at Redcar will have put him spot on for this and he can go close.

Ifonlytheycudtalk ran well last time out over course and distance, running on into sixth place after being held up. If Darren Fentiman can be nearer the pace today, this Tim Easterby runner could certainly be involved in the finish.

Came to hold every chance inside final furlong Lto, before weakening very quickly and was subject of a course vet examination which failed to show anything. However, is a C/D winner who is a nicely handicapped horse here off 2lb lower mark, under used jockey up and shrewd trainer who is in top form @ present, has a very good record @ this course last 5 seasons, making current 10/1 solid Ew value in the race.

A 7-time career winner whose last win came over 5f at Newcastle back in February. Has run well on the last 2 starts at this venue and was not beaten far last time out at Redcar at the beginning of the month. An each-way chance with 4 places.

Not the best of runs on the all-weather last time out, but was in solid form before that, including a win over course and distance. Good jockey booking in terms of this race and can go well once more if leaving last time's effort behind.

Irish Dancer is a 5-year-old gelding trained by Declan Carroll (only runner at Catterick), a trainer who does well here, picking up 24/183 winners showing an ROI of 120.2% in recent years. Irish Dancer is 0-17, so hardly inspiring, but his career-best RPR of 53 actually came at Catterick over today's 5f on this day last year when beaten a neck, finishing runner-up behind Sherdal. That was off 41 with Zak Wheatley's 5lb claim. Today he runs off 42 with Zak claiming 3lb. Irish Dancer also wears a first-time tongue tie, and he could figure today despite being a very speculative selection.

I'm pretty confident that 7yo irish mare Mrs Bagerran will place at least here. She returns from a 4 months break here today and is one who goes well fresh. Is on a handy mark back on her last winnig mark and likes it here at Catterick. Will be in the mix.

He is a C&D winner but was unable to repeat a similar performance here LTO over C&D when only 10 of 13 last month. His last win was off a higher mark, but he will really need to up his game now going up in class.

I just think this price is probably a worthwhile punt for POSH MAISIE based on the last time out run here, which resulted in a short defeat and mid-division finish from a pound higher in the handicap. Was pretty unlucky in running in that race too. Stroxx was the winner in that run and is now a pound higher, so the two could be closer together here. Stroxx is currently 10's, so she's probably more a 20s shot rather than this price.
