Segunda Division Format and Past Winners
The Spanish Segunda Division, otherwise known as La Liga 2, is the second tier in Spanish football. The league consists of twenty-two teams that play each other home and away in a forty-two-game season.
Relegation: The bottom four sides come to the end of the season and are relegated to the Segunda Division B.
Promotion: The top two teams are automatically promoted to La Liga, whilst the teams in the third to sixth place compete in a playoff for the third promotion spot.
