Ireland Premier Division Format and Past Winners
There is a total of ten teams that compete in the Irish Premier Division.
The team that finishes as champions will get a route into the second qualifying round of next season's UEFA Champions League.
The two teams who finished second and third along with the FAI Cup winners go into next season's first-round qualifier for the UEFA Europa League.
The team finishing bottom of the league will be automatically relegated to the League of Ireland First Division.
The team which finishes ninth will go into a playoff with a team from the lower division. If they lose, they will be relegated, if they win then they stay in the league.
