It's a one-off match where the teams battle it out to get their hands on the UEFA Super Cup, the cup was first competed for in 1973 and was originally a two-legged match, Ajax defeated AC Milan 6-1 in the first final.
In 1998, the competition was switched to a one-off match, in recent years it has proved a very tight affair, between 2013 & 2023, eight of the eleven matches were all square at full-time and required extra time/penalties to decide the winner of the cup.

Real Madrid's success in 2024 moved them on to six wins and the most successful team with them now being one ahead of both Barcelona and AC Milan who have five wins apiece.
As mentioned, Madrid was the most recent winner of those having won it in 2024, Barcelona last won it in 2015 whilst you have to go right back to 2007 to final Milan's last success.
Britain's most successful team is Liverpool who have won the Super Cup four times, their last win came in 2019 when defeating Chelsea on penalties.
