2022 Belgian Grand Prix

The Spa-Francorchamps hosts the Belgian Grand Prix. Originally built in 1921, the track underwent development in 1979 where the lap was reduced by over half its length. Despite this, this is still the longest lap on the current F1 calendar.

The Belgian Grand Prix did move around prior to redevelopment but has been held at Spa-Francorchamps since 1985 with the exception of 2003 & 2006 when there was no Belgian Grand Prix.

Spa is always a favourite for both fans and drivers, the mixture of fast corners and long straights allows drivers to push their cars to the max and because of the size of the track, it can be raining on one section and not another!

How long is the Belgian Grand Prix?

I lap of the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa is just over 7 km (4.35 miles) and drivers have to complete 74 laps for a total distance of 308 km (191 miles).

When F1 fans speak of Spa, the name 'Eau Rouge' will always pop up as this thrilling sequence of corners is one of the best in the world. The left is followed by a right which leads up the hill through Raidillon.

Who has won the Belgian Grand Prix? Ferrari has won it a total of eighteen times which is five times more than McLaren. Having won it in 2018, Ferrari ended a nine-year wait for a win here having last won the race in 2009.

Michael Schumacher won this race five times in a ten year period between 1992-2002, his win in 2002 moved him ahead of Ayrton Senna for most wins.

Of the current drivers, Kimi Räikkönen and Lewis Hamilton lead the way with four wins apiece and Sebastian Vettel are just one win behind them on three.

The current 'Official' lap record here at Spa was set by Valtteri Bottas during the 2018 Grand Prix with a time of 1:46.286.
