UK City of Culture is a UK-wide programme, developed by DCMS Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport) in consultation with the devolved administrations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The competition process to select the UK City of Culture is managed by the UK Government.
The UK City of Culture betting is wide open at this stage with the shortlist narrowed down to the final 8 submissions all hoping to scoop the £40,000 prize and the associated benefits of the title and the tourism it is designed to spark.
The winner of the next UK City of Culture will be announced in Early Spring 2022, and take over the tenure of Coventry in 2025.
