Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the early favourite to be the next Wolves manager

Betting odds are now available on the next Wolves manager with bookmakers instantly placing former Manchester United player and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as favourite.

Solskjaer was seen in the stands at Molineux on Saturday to watch Wolves 2-1 defeat to Ipswich with his former assistant coach Kieran McKenna in charge of the winners.

That instantly added rumours that the Norwegian boss was watching over a potential new team with the 51-year-old now leading the way at 2/1 to replace the departing Gary O'Neil.

BetVictor's early betting market gives Solskjaer an implied probability of 33.3% that he will replace O'Neil with other massive names featuring in the odds list.

Gary O'Neil sacked on Sunday after latest defeat

After four losses in a row and the club sitting in 19th in the Premier League table, Gary O'Neil was dismissed as Wolves boss on Sunday.

O'Neil instantly blamed the players for the failure after Saturday's 2-1 loss to Ipswich which raised question marks on an already tricky position he was in as Wolves manager.

It seemed inevitable after yesterday's defeat that O'Neil would be departing the club and the sacking was confirmed by the Daily Telegraph's Midlands football reporter John Percy.

Wolves now one of the favourites for relegation this season

Wolves have now shortened into odds-on to go down to the Championship at the end of the season with bookies also continuing to offer odds on the Premier League relegation battle.

The three promoted teams in the league this season are the favourites to go down with Southampton, Ipswich and Leicester all above Wolves in the market.

With Wolves 19th in the league though it seems that they are now firmly in the dreaded relegation battle and their odds put them above Everton and Crystal Palace to go down.
