- Roy Hodgson leaves Watford relegated after a dismal year, with two relegations from the Premier League in three seasons.
John Eustace is the 4/9 favourite to be next Watford manager
Watford are on the lookout for a new manager after Roy Hodgson confirmed that he won't be staying at the club next season.
Hodgson took over at the Hornets at the end of January, with the hopes of keeping them up but failed to do so with no change in their fortunes.
Former player John Eustace has been placed as favourite in the betting market at odds of 4/9, making him much lower odds than any other candidate.
Next Watford Manager | Odds | Probability |
---|---|---|
John Eustace | 4/9 | 69.2% |
Diego Martinez Penas | 6/1 | 14.3% |
Rob Edwards | 15/2 | 11.8% |
Nuno Espirito Santo | 11/1 | 8.3% |
Fabio Cannavaro | 11/1 | 8.3% |
Sean Dyche | 12/1 | 7.7% |
Diego Martinez is the second favourite in the market and has been without a role since leaving Spanish side Granada last year.
Martinez has been in the English press as recently as November for coming over to the country to take in the English game.
This may be in his favour for the Watford job, with his previous experience at Granada allowing him to be one of the most exciting young managers in the world.
Sean Dyche 12/1 to go back to the club
Sean Dyche is 12/1 to be Watford manager again, having started his managerial career at the club back in 2011.
Dyche lasted a year there before a change in ownership left to his dismissal despite their best finish in 4 years.
Fast forward 10 years later and Dyche is without a job currently after his shock sacking at Burnley.
Dyche and Burnley seemed like a match made in heaven, with 10 years at the club having him keep Burnley in the Premier League year after year.
The shock dismissal caused ripples around the Premier League though and it's surely not long before Dyche gets another job in the division.
Roy Hodgson leaves Watford relegated after a dismal year
Watford were confirmed as the second team relegated from the Premier League this season after losing to Crystal Palace at the weekend.
Norwich were the first side relegated this year after a poor season and Watford followed them back down to the Championship
Roy Hodgson announced he was leaving the club before the weekend after a poor year for the club and a bad 4 months in charge for Hodgson.
Watford fans were unhappy with Hodgson after he didn't acknowledge them after the Palace game where they were relegated.
This has made fans call for his dismissal early, with odds of 5/2 for him to be sacked before the season is over.
