Karl Robinson is the 2/1 favourite to become the next manager of Tranmere Rovers

Former Oxford United manager Karl Robinson is the 2/1 favourite to become the next Tranmere Rovers manager according to the latest odds from UK betting sites.

Robinson was sacked from Oxford just three weeks ago following a run of eight games without a win but he may look to bounce straight back into management with Tranmere.

The Merseyside born manager may look to move back home and manage a side more local too him rather than the three southern clubs in MK Dons, Charlton and Oxford United that he has managed so far in his career.

Robinson has spoke in the past to Oxford Mail about his affection for Tranmere due to his late father-in-law's big support for the team while talking about his tremendous respect for the club.

TalkSPORT BET say there's a 33% chance of Robinson taking over at Tranmere next with Danny Cowley the second favourite in the betting market at 4/1.

Next Tranmere Rovers Manager Odds Probability
Karl Robinson 2/1 33.3%
Danny Cowley 4/1 25.0%
Ian Dawes 6/1 14.3%
David Artell 8/1 11.1%
Robbie Fowler 12/1 7.7%
Karl Robinson may well decide to manage a Merseyside club in his next role with bookies now putting him as the 2/1 favourite to take over at Tranmere!

Tranmere dismissed Micky Mellon in his second spell in charge of the club

Tranmere bosses decided to sack manager Micky Mellon earlier this week after six wins since mid-October saw his team slide down the League Two table to 14th.

Mellon had previously been at the club in 2016-2020 and had led the club to back-to-back promotions to League One in that first spell before returning in June 2021.

Ian Dawes is the caretaker manager currently at Tranmere and he is the third favourite in the betting market at 6/1 to get the job on a permanent basis.

Rovers now 50/1 to finish in the Top 7 following their poor form

Whoever comes in as the next Tranmere manager will be hoping to hit the ground running and end the season with decent form going into the new campaign.

Realistically the club has no real chance of being relegated this year and bookmakers say they're as big as 50/1 to finish in the Top 7 by the end of the season.

That means that whoever the next manager may be will have a good spell towards the end of the campaign to get used to the club and surroundings without any real danger of going down.

Rovers are 11/8 to finish in the top half of League Two this season which looks a much more realistic bet.

Rovers are now as big as 50/1 to finish in the Top 7 in the league this season with relegation looking like there's no chance this campaign.
