Nathan Jones is the early favourite to be the next Swansea City manager

Betting is now available on who will be the next Swansea City manager with Nathan Jones the early favourite with bookmakers to take over at the Swansea.com Stadium next.

Next Swansea City ManagerOddsProbability
Nathan Jones11/842.1%
Chris Davies6/440.0%
John Eustace3/125.0%
Luke Williams6/114.3%
Steve Cotterill12/17.7%

Nathan Jones has been without a club since he left Southampton back in February and it may well be that the Swansea job is the best option for him to step back into football.

Jones has never hid his admiration for Cardiff City so taking over at rivals Swansea could be a controversial step for the board as they look for the right man next.

BetVictor have Jones as the favourite in the betting market with Chris Davies just behind him in the odds at 6/4 as he could change his role as assistant manager at Tottenham to a fully fledged boss.

What the expert says...
Swansea have a history of appointing innovative managers where retention of the ball is paramount and good football is in the DNA, (Martinez, Laudrup, Potter, Rodgers etc) it seems that the Michael Duff style did not fit that historic criteria.

Michael Duff was sacked after just 6 months in charge of the Swans

Michael Duff was dismissed by the Swansea City board on Monday after less than six months in charge of the club with their struggles continuing so far this season.

Swansea sit in 18th place in the Championship table after a tough spell has seen them win just one of their last eight games in the league.

Alan Sheehan has taken over as caretaker boss with Swansea's official statement saying, "the process to appoint a new head coach is already under way".

Swansea currently sit in 18th place in the Championship table

Swansea's poor form has seen them sink to 18th in the Championship table in a season where they would have been aiming to challenge for the play-off spots.

According to the latest betting odds it's unlikely that they will go down at the end of the season, but bookies do have them as the sixth favourites for relegation.

The Swans sit at 5/1 in the betting market to go down with Rotherham remaining the heavy favourites at 1/12 to go down to League One at the end of the campaign.
