John Eustace8/111.1%
Kevin Muscat12/17.7%

Bookies now have Sable as the evens favourite at the top of the betting market to take over at Sunderland as his first full managerial job.

The Sunderland job is one of the biggest in the Championship so the board will be looking to get the appointment right to get them back up to the Premier League.

BetVictor''s latest odds suggest that there's a 16% chance of Eustace taking over next with the early days in the market yet to show a clear favourite.

What the expert says...
Sunderland's poor run of form meant that the board have decided to react while they're still well in the hunt for the play-offs. Sunderland were linked with Francesco Farioli at Nice previously and it could be his assistant coach Julien Sable who they bring in instead.

Tony Mowbray sacked on Monday after 15 months in charge of the club

Tony Mowbray was sacked on Monday evening after 15 months in charge of the Black Cats after a poor run of form saw them win just two of their last nine league games.

Mowbray took over Sunderland back in August last year and it will not have been an easy decision for the club's board to sack him after he guided the team to the play-offs last season.

Sporting director Kristjaan Speakman said, "This was a difficult decision to make," in an official statement from the club's website on Monday evening.
