Former Millwall manager Gary Rowett is the early favourite at 5/1 with BetVictor to take over at the Millers after leaving Millwall last month by mutual consent.
The Millers will be looking to get someone in to replace Taylor who can steer them away from the relegation zone and keep them up in the Championship at the end of the season.
Some big names feature in the betting market with former Rotherham United player Chris Wilder the second favourite in the odds to take over at the New York Stadium.
Neil Warnock also features in the odds to make a return to Rotherham, with a short spell at the club back in 2016 seeing him manage the side to safety in the Championship.
What the expert says..
Bookies have placed Gary Rowett as the early favourite to take over at Rotherham United next with the club looking to get a replacement for Matt Taylor sorted quickly.
Matt Taylor was sacked on Monday following 5-0 defeat to Watford at the weekend
Rotherham United decided to part ways with Matt Taylor on Monday morning after a 5-0 loss to Watford at the weekend saw the club left in 22nd in the Championship.
Taylor had been at the club as manager for 13 months after leaving Exeter City but just 2 wins from their opening 16 league game this season has seen them slump in the table.
Millers chairman Tony Stewart said in the club's statement that he "felt by myself and the board that we had to act now by making a managerial change in order to give ourselves the best possible chance of retaining our Championship status this season."
