Lee Cattermole is 1/2 to be the next Middlesbrough manager with bookies now making him favourite
Lee Cattermole is now the 1/2 bookies favourite to be the next Middlesbrough manager following the dismissal of Chris Wilder last weekend.
Cattermole is an assistant coach with Boro's first team and has been part of caretaker manager Leo Percovich's backroom staff since Wilder left.
BetVictor make Cattermole the odds on favourite to become the next Boro manager with reports suggesting he could be next for the role.
Next Middlesbrough Manager | Odds | Probability |
---|---|---|
Lee Cattermole | 1/2 | 66.7% |
Rob Edwards
|
6/1 | 14.3% |
Michael Carrick | 6/1 | 14.3% |
Carlos Corberan
|
6/1 | 14.3% |
Leo Percovich | 6/1 | 14.3% |
Leo Percovich is joint second favourite in the betting market and is the current caretaker manager of Middlesbrough following Wilder's departure.
Bookies only give him a 14% chance of taking over permanently though despite Boro winning in his first game in charge against Birmingham on Wednesday night.
Previous heavy favourite Michael Carrick no longer in the running according to reports
Michael Carrick was backed into heavy favourite to be next Boro manager earlier this week but reports last night suggested that the time was not yet right to return to the game.
Carrick has been a football coach since retiring from football back in 2018 and spent three years at Man United as part of Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's backroom staff.
When Solskjaer was dismissed, Carrick took charge of three Manchester United fixtures as caretaker manager, beating Villarreal and Arsenal while drawing 1-1 against Chelsea.
Boro are now into 12/1 to be relegated with the club sitting in 21st in the Championship
Middlesbrough are now 12/1 from 28/1 to be relegated from the Championship this season with the club sitting in 21st place in the table.
The weekend's 2-0 loss to Millwall saw Boro continue to struggle in the league and may have harmed caretaker Leo Percovich's permanent managerial chance.
Bookies still put 13 clubs above Middlesbrough in the relegation odds, giving them just a 7.7% chance of them going down this season.
